Salford City College is an innovative Beacon Status college and Ryders Farm Equestrian Centre is proud to act as the practical centre for its equine studies courses in Horse Care.
These courses are both practical and theoretical based both here at Ryders and at Pendleton’s De La Salle campus to give students an all-round experience of caring for horses The courses include the practical day-to-day routines of mucking out, grooming, yard maintenance, working as a team, and learning first hand the physiological functions, and psychological and behavioural traits of horses. Students undertake riding instruction working towards the British Horse Society Stages examinations.
Classroom lectures cover the theoretical principles of horse care and equestrianism.
The whole course is aimed at giving students an all-round knowledge base of the needs of horses and the requirements of the horse industry to enable them to confidently take their place in the equestrian work place.
